ARDI Kick-Off Workshop

March 15 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Today, we gather with a shared passion for preserving the Al-Nejashi cultural heritage and ensuring that the stories of our ancestors continue to inspire and educate future generations. We are thrilled to introduce Al-Nejashi Reconstruction and Development Initiative (abb as ARDI), which is an initiative dedicated to safeguarding the rich history and legacy of Al-Nejashi (Negashi). Al-Nejashi is cherished site located 47KM from Mekelle, capital of Tigray, Ethiopia.

The Importance of Preservation:

Al-Nejashi holds a special place in our hearts—it’s more than just a location. It’s a living connection to our past. However, like many historical sites, it faces the looming threat of neglect and decay. Furthermore, it sustained severe damage during Ethiopia-Tigray war. If we don’t act now, we risk losing an irreplaceable piece of our identity and heritage.

Our Mission:

At ARDI, our mission is clear: to reconstruct and develop the site and empower communities to become stewards of their cultural heritage. We believe that by providing education, resources, and support, we can ensure the long-term preservation of Al-Nejashi.

The Kick-Off Workshop:

ARDI Workshop will serve as a hub for preservation efforts, offering workshops, seminars, and hands-on training opportunities for volunteers and community members. Through collaborative partnerships with experts in conservation, architecture, and archaeology, we will develop sustainable preservation strategies tailored to the unique needs of Al-Nejashi.

Why It Matters:

Preserving our cultural heritage isn’t just about protecting old buildings. It’s about honoring the legacies of those who came before us and celebrating the diverse tapestry of human history. By safeguarding Al-Nejashi, we can foster a sense of pride, identity, and belonging within our community, while also attracting visitors and stimulating economic growth.

Call to Action:

We invite each of you to join us in our mission to preserve ARDI. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a skilled craftsman, or simply someone who cares deeply about our shared heritage, there’s a place for you in our community. Together, we can ensure that ARDI continues to inspire and enrich the lives of future generations.
